OOTD – dark florals

Floral dress – New Look not available online, see a similar one here
Denim jacket – New Look about 2 years ago, see a similar one here
Leggings – Primark
Chelsea boots – Amazon
Bag – New Look
On my lips I’m wearing the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me & I’ve used the MUA Heaven & Earth palette on my eyes.
Nathan’s grandparents were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on the 21st September so we all went out for a meal to help them celebrate & this is what I wore.
I know the photos are blurry, but they will get better – I had to use the tripod so I couldn’t see if I was in focus!!It was quite warm and humid that day so I did end up taking the denim jacket off.
I love this dress, it’s so suited to the dark plum colours that will be in all the clothing shops very soon. I also love the crochet detailing around the neckline and the pockets at the side. If you want to see a close up of the crochet, see my New Look haul here
I’ve also dug my beloved heeled Chelsea boots from the back of my wardrobe. I love them, but as I’m not good walking in heels or needing the extra height, I rarely wear them.
I’m also using the Kelly Brook bag which I also featured in my New Look haul and I’m loving it so far, the only annoying thing is that some of the hardwear has fallen off! If you would like a review, let me know.
The only thing missing from this outfit is some cute frilly socks to wear with my Chelsea boots! If you have any recommendations as to where the best place to get them would be, please let me know in the comments.

Getting into a routine

Hey guys,
So I know I have posted nearly every day for the past week or so, but I feel I need a routine to my blog, so from now on, I will post three times a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. These posts will be:
Mondays – fashion
Wednesdays – beauty
Fridays – lifestyle a.k.a Friday Feelings
There will of course be the occasional extra post, but for now I feel that a routine will benefit not only me, but also you as a reader as you will know what will be posted and when.
The next post will of course be a fashion post on Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for that 🙂

The Autumn Tag

I’ve seen this tag floating around the blog-sphere and I love the Autumn season so thought I would do it for you all. I hope you’re all snuggled up under your blankets and got your cuppa to hand as this may be a longer post than usual.
1. Favourite thing about Autumn?
My favourite thing about Autumn has to be the fashion. I love chunky knits worn with skinny jeans and ugg boots. I also love the colours that are associated with Autumn – the dark plums, burgundies and berries.
2. Favourite drink?
I’m a fan of the cinnamon flavour so I’m all about the chai teas and gingerbread lattes. One of my goals for this year is to try the ever so famous pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks which I am yet to try (or find for that matter!)
3. Favourite scent/candle?
Along with the cinnamon flavours, I also adore the scent, so anything with those kind of notes. My favourite at the moment though is the Sugar and Spice candle from Tesco. You can see a full review of it here
4. Best lipstick?
As you know, I’m not much of a lipstick wearer as I feel it doesn’t suit me, so I’ll have to say the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry me. Although it is a lip balm, it does give some colour which is more my sort of thing and is a lovely red colour.
5. Go-to moisturiser?
For my face, it’s my Garnier Pure Active moisturiser, and for my body would be the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter.
6. Go-to colour for your eyes?
I’m also not much of an eyeshadow wearer, but when I do go for some colour it’s usually champagne or silver colours, particularly the champagne colour from the Sleek Au Naturel palette and the silver from the MUA Glitterball palette, (look out for a review of the glitterball palette coming soon).
7. Favourite outfit to wear?
I gave you all a clue earlier, but chunky knit cardis with chunky scarves, skinny jeans, leg warmers and ugg boots. I get cold really easily so I like to wrap up warm in the Autumn even if the weather is pleasantly warm.
8. Autumn treat?
This year I’ve been looking for a black leather jacket that would suit me. I’m 5 ft 10 so I find it hard to find leather jackets that come past down my waist!!! I think I have found the one for me though, even though it is not exactly leather, or pleather. You can see it in my Autumn picks post here
9. Favourite place to be?
Total cheese-fest here, but on the sofa, snuggled under the blankets with the log burner going and with Nathan watching tv series and films. Perfect.
So that’s the Autumn tag for 2013. Have you done this tag? I’d love to read yours if so, so leave your links in the comments 😀

Friday Feelings #7

Hello lovelies, I hope you’ve all had a good week. I’ve been so tired this week – sleeping past 10:30am nearly every day (working must be taking it’s toll)!
Here’s my love, likes and loathes of the week..
1. Loves – Geordie Shore. I’ve only recently got into this programme after seeing Charlotte on Celebrity Big Brother. It’s so funny and addictive. Although I’m only on the second series, I’m loving it. Definitely getting jealous of those watching the current series seeing all the tweets about it!
2. Likes – This one is a specific high street shop – New Look. I love the clothes from New Look, I feel that they are great value for money and reasonably priced. I recently did a haul post from there which you can read here and since then I have placed another cheeky order (oops) so look out for another haul post coming soon.
3. Loathes – Funnily enough I don’t have any loathes this week which is good news. I’ve had a pretty chilled week so nothing has gotten me wound up.
As always here’s my photo of the week…

This photo just reminds me of the cosiness of Autumn, the beautiful colours and cold nights sitting infront of the fire watching films 🙂
What’s been your highlight of the past week?

Blog photography

Because I use this camera to take most of my blog photos, I felt that it needed a little credit, so that’s what this post is going to be about.
Nathan got me this camera nearly two years ago now as I needed something that would take photos as well as video for one of my univeristy modules.
I’d always wanted an SLR but knew hardly anything about them. Throughout highschool I took art so SLR cameras were always available to use but were alien to me at that time!
I’d had my eye on a different SLR, maybe it was a nikon, but I cannot quite remember. When Nathan went to pick it up for me, he found out that it was discontinued and was not in stock. That sent me into panic mode where I had to choose the first I thought looked the best. That ended up being the Canon EOS 1100D which I use now.
As it was such an impulse buy, I didn’t know anything about it or how to use it so experimenting with the different settings, white balances and flash modes was such fun!
On a day to day basis, I use the lens that came with it – the EFS 18-55mm. It does the job for me as most of my photography is macro.
The image quality is beautiful when taken with this camera. I love that the background can be unfocused whilst the foreground image can be focused on perfectly. Even the manual focus is simple and easy to use especially when the back screen is turned on.
Overall, I love my SLR camera and am so glad that this was the one chosen on a whim.
Nathan got it from Jessops which you can view here
If you blog, what camera do you use?

My Autumn Nail Polish Picks

1. Unbranded nail varnish in a deep teal colour
2. All About Nails nail varnish in Raspberry
3. Unbranded nail polish in a dark purple colour
4. Barry M nail paint in Raspberry
5. Technic nail varnish in Deep Sea

As I mentioned in my last NOTD I have pulled out all my dark nail polishes in the anticipation of the Autumn season that has vastly approached us British folk.
These are just my top 5 that I will be wearing the most in the upcoming colder months.
What will you be wearing on your nails this season?

Recipe | double chocolate

I love these cookies – this is the only recipe I use to make chocolate cookies. They come out so soft with a  melt in the mouth texture.
You will need:
Keeping it simple here – mix the butter and sugar until creamy. Then add in the egg and mix again until the sugar is dissolved – probably best to use an electric mixer. I didn’t use one this time so the sugar didn’t completely dissolve.
Add in the flour and cocoa powder then mix until it’s like a stiff dough. If you feel it is too stiff, add in some milk until it looks ready to be handled.
Line 2 baking trays with baking parchment then split the cookie dough into 12 pieces, rolled into a balls and placed evenly on the baking trays.
Heat the oven at 200 degrees and whilst it warms up, split a chocolate bar into 12 pieces or however many cookies the dough made and place 1 piece of chocolate into the middle of each of the cookies.
Put in the oven for 8 – 10 minutes until cookies have risen slightly and have expanded. When you take them out they will still be soft so let them cool before eating or moving them.
And there we have it. It’s such a simple recipe yet so good that they come out nearly perfect every time!
Have you tried this recipe before?
What did you think?
